London & South East Canals

These waterways have been almost entirely replaced by railways and redevelopment of the docks area of Surrey Quays. Indeed on this map you can see a spur which was the start point of the Croydon Canal that was entirely gone by 1900. The terminus of the Croydon Canal is now replaced by West Croydon railway station, but you’ll need a better imagination than mine to envisage it. Work continues…
